My Advertisement

2017 KIA Niro ft. Melissa  McCarthy

Out of all the commercials/ads on television I chose this one because it just makes you smile when you watch it, which is never a bad thing.

This advertisement represents pathos by using humor to help engage and interest the audience into watching, since society thrives for acts of comedy for entertainment. Also by using a popular celebrity, such as Melissa McCarthy, that is a comedy actress,  to become the face of their product the company Kia is trying to sell.

This advertisement represents ethos by using important issues in today's society, like global warming, endangered animals, etc. to help grab the audiences attention, with going hand in hand of introducing the more efficient Eco friendly car.

This advertisement represents logos by using facts and logic, to promote Kia's new 2017 model, like stating that it is it  has updates and improved features, more efficient on gas, and in all, better for the environment. The hashtag Kia is using for promoting this product is "the smarter way".

Nobody thinks of the hidden little details of advertisement, like the fact that this ad makes fun of an oversize women being tossed and pushed around through out this commercial. This could be an example of ethos and pathos because of the important issue of judging and stereotyping individuals in society based on size or gender. Along with using Melissa McCarthy to go through with being put out there and giving into the stereotypes.

  1. Such a great sample! I'd love to have you EMBED the video (Google it; it's easy! ... but you may recall we went over this in class, too). Also, tidy up your sentences --- there are a few errors that get in the way of your clarity. And can you elaborate? Dig a bit deeper? Thanks, Krystal!! (BTW, we used this as a sample in my other College Writing classes, so extra thanks!)

  2. I loved how humorous this advertisement was! Though it makes me wonder if there's a deeper message within it. With the many examples given of climate change shown, does Kia really believe that driving an eco friendly car would be enough to save the world? It is a start nonetheless but if anything, this advertisement could also be seen as a message that we need to change our ways as humans to save the environment for many generations to come.
