I Feel Pretty

Yesterday I went saw the movie "I Feel Pretty". I personally thought it was a good movie because it had a little bit of everything from funny puns to sending an important message to society of what is actually means to be beautiful. I thought the message was presented in a good way that relates to the people of average lifestyle. The main character was an average woman, nothing special trying to fit into the beauty world, but knew she would never make it because of the way she looked and her body size and shape. Until one day she was granted what she wanted, to be and feel pretty and it was fun for her, but then she realized that looks are not everything, people do not always care what is on the outside, and after realizing that she found her own confidence and embraced and appreciated for who she was. I thought it was a good movie choice since I am writing an essay on body shaming in society and went well with it. It open new ideas for my essay, on both sides of the topic ...

Why I chose My Major

When coming into Lewis University, I chose the major of Business Administration for myself for various reasons. I first had considered business as my major because of the fact that it is so diverse. What I mean by that is having a business degree can help land you most job, which in my case sounded really good since I did not know actually what I wanted to do, but knew I wanted to be involved with what went on in society. I thought business was kind of perfect because in multiple ways I can help people within the economy. Another reason along with helping people is being educated on how the world works, I love knowing learning the simple things in life, like doing taxes, it is always useful knowledge to have into adulthood. I am only a freshman in college and someday I think if I have chosen the right major for me, but other days I am glad I chose business because of the possibilities it brings. But who knows what the future holds, maybe I will change and find a better degree that I am ...

Yoga Time!

https://depositphotos.com/114527676/stock-illustration-namaste-hand-drawn-lettering.html   This weekend I attended a yoga class, I have to say I really enjoyed it. It was awkward at first because I did not know any of the moves and comfortable doing them with strangers all around thinking they were judging me. Turns out yoga is a place where judgment is not welcomed and you go at the rate you are comfortable at, not worrying what other people are doing. Before this class I did not know much of yoga just that it was like a form of meditation or something, but it is actually a way to relax and focus on you r mind, body, and spirit. After attending I felt so relaxed and at peace and confident about me as a person. I found out that yoga is a great way to de-stress and find peace while still getting a good core strengthening work out. Highly recommenced checking out a yoga class for yourselves, which Lewis offers classes on Mondays and Thursdays at 1pm.

Stress

Stress is everywhere. Being a freshman in college is especially stressful. In today's society people are losing sleep, not eating, and reporting more mental illnesses that fifty years ago because of stress. Why do we stress? Because we feel like the pressures of the world are on our shoulders. As a student I have stress over the worries about getting good grades and trying to make the right decisions to make my future bright. As a society we have stress over standards to live the perfect life and to fit in. Stress is sometimes a good thing, in little doses, but too much and it starts causing problems. Stress can lead to high blood pressure, anxiety, depression, sleep disorders, and eating disorders. Not good stuff. Since spring is starting and finals are just around the corner, it is the perfect time to manage and help control the stress in our lives. Thing to try that have helped me are being active because when being active it release endorphins in the brain that send little do...

Why I swim?

I started swimming around 11 years ago. One summer I decided to join a local YMCA swim team and fell in love with the how accepting the team was and the competition, with the fact that swimming is considered a team sport, but at the same time can compete individually. Going swimming was my favorite part of my day. I loved everything about it, the way it made me feel when I would exercise, on how it would get rid of the stress that was inside, it would just disappear. Along with noticing a difference in my mood when I did compared to when I did not swim.  At the same time, while swimming I felt relaxed and had comfort. It is proven that swimming has multiple benefits on the body and mind. The obvious one, being it helps keeps the body in shape, but it does much more than that, it is a high intensity as well as a low impact sport, meaning it less harsh on the joints and pounding with the body's weight hitting the ground. swimming also is calming to the mind, as being surround by ...

My Advertisement

2017 KIA Niro ft. Melissa  McCarthy  Out of all the commercials/ads on television I chose this one because it just makes you smile when you watch it, which is never a bad thing. This advertisement represents pathos by using humor to help engage and interest the audience into watching, since society thrives for acts of comedy for entertainment. Also by using a popular celebrity, such as Melissa McCarthy, that is a comedy actress,  to become the face of their product the company Kia is trying to sell. This advertisement represents ethos by using important issues in today's society, like global warming, endangered animals, etc. to help grab the audiences attention, with going hand in hand of introducing the more efficient Eco friendly car.  This advertisement represents logos by using facts and logic, to promote Kia's new 2017 model, like stating that it is it  has updates and improved features, more efficient on gas, and in all, better for the environment....

Life....  Have you ever just took a moment to think about what you have learned in life so far? Recently, I have, just out of curiosity. I am only nineteen years old, so believe there is plenty for me still to learn, but up until this age the most important thing I have learned that is actually useful and will continue to hold on to is to just be true to yourself. If I could tell younger me any piece of advice, that is what I would say. Growing up, I have always wanted to fit in, everyone does, it is human nature. We always look to people we see on television, the internet, even our own peers to determine what we want to be and how we what to act. It is sad that pop culture has that power over us to produce that effect.  I have experienced that phase of trying to act more like the people I'm surrounded by and what I witness on social media, because in this society, when people are different and want to stand out, they just get rejected. It is only because others just did ...
